At Ponderosa WoodSlabs, we offer a comprehensive range of professional woodworking services to bring your unique projects to life. Our Shop Hourly Rate typically falls within the range of $120 – $150, ensuring competitive pricing for our services and wood preparation. We understand that not everyone possesses the expertise or tools to handle every aspect of their woodworking projects. That’s where we come in — ready to assist you at every applicable phase(s) of your project, ensuring a successful and timely completion.

Our Commonly Requested Services:

Jointing:

• • This service involves flattening one face of a wood slab and squaring up an adjacent edge, particularly when removing the live edge side(s).

Planing:

• • Bringing a board to a consistent thickness by flattening the other side of an already jointed board. Our planer and jointer work co-jointly for efficiency. Additionally, we use a wide planer or router sled table to plane both sides of larger slabs.

Gluing:

• • The process of adhering two or more boards together or bookmatching two parallel ripped slabs, creating one larger piece.

Pre-Finishing:

• • A comprehensive service combining jointing (or jointing and planing), gluing (if needed), 220 grit sanding, and preparing the wood for finishing with a variety of options such as conversion varnish, oil, polyurethane, epoxy, or a finish of your choice.

Finishing:

• • Taking off from the pre-finished wood slab, we apply a durable and natural-feel Conversion Varnish Finishing. The top side is smoothly finished, while the bottom is sanded and finished at 120-150 grit. Customers can request a total finish on both sides at a higher grit.

Fillers / Epoxy:

• • Additional services in wood fillers and epoxy work, with pricing tailored to the size and requirements of the requested job.

Butterfly / Dovetail Keys:

• • Utilizing Butterfly (Bow Ties) or Dovetail Keys to prevent wood slabs from splitting in vulnerable spots. Pricing is determined based on the requirements and size of the requested job.

Pick Up / Delivery:

• • Local delivery is available and normally priced at $200/Miami-Dade; $250/Broward; $300/Palm Beach, for loads weighing less than 250 lbs. Larger loads requiring additional workers and loading time will be priced accordingly. Delivery to other locations within the State of Florida is considered and priced on a case-by-case basis.

Installation:

• • Our team is skilled in timely and professionally crafting installations, whether it involves attaching legs or a base to your finished wood slab tabletop, setting up shelves, countertops, bar tops, or custom built-in designs.
