Camphor wood is a beautiful type of wood that is often used in furniture and other decorative items. It has a unique smell that appeals to many, and it is also popularly known for its therapeutic properties. Also known as Camphor Laurel (Cinnamomum camphora), is native to southeast Asia but you can find it in many areas because it is planted widely throughout tropical and subtropical regions of the world. It grows to a height of 65 to100 ft tall with light brown wood that has shades of red, gray, or olive green with occasional darker streaks. The sapwood tends to be paler than the heartwood.  Camphor wood has been used by humans since ancient times. Legend has it that camphor was an ingredient in King Solomon’s incense, and its therapeutic properties were used in traditional Chinese medicine for over 3,000 years. It is still widely used today in natural remedies, such as for muscle aches and respiratory issues.
